Understanding the NAVA fAIrVoice Pledge & Why It’s Important

As audiobook and voice-over professionals, your voices are not just tools; they are your livelihood. With synthetic voice technologies rapidly evolving, protecting the rights, safety, and value of your voice performances is critical.
That’s why the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) launched the fAIr Voices Pledge, a call to action that centres on five core commitments: consent, control, compensation, security, and fairness in sourcing.
Pozotron is proud to be among the industry leaders who’ve taken this pledge, standing firmly behind those principles .
What is the fAIr Voices Pledge?
The fAIr Voices Pledge is a voluntary commitment for companies that handle voice actor files.
Signatories agree to uphold five foundational standards. We’ve summarized them here for simplicity. For the full, exact language, please refer to the official NAVA fAIr Voices page.
- Training – Companies with terms of service clearly prohibit the unauthorized use of personal data or sound files to create or train AI or machine-learning synthetic voice models.
- Consent – Users must give active consent before their voice, image, name, or likeness can be used to create or train AI-driven synthetic voice models, clones, or replicas, including any media containing biometric data.
- Control – Allowing creators to have reasonable control of how and where their voice, image, name, and likeness are used and what types of work it can generate.
- Compensation – Users must receive fair compensation, at mutually agreed rates, if their voice or sound files are used to create or train AI-driven synthetic voice models.
- Security -Commits to making every reasonable effort to keep any digital files containing your voice or likeness secure and protected from unauthorized third-party access.
- Sourcing – Ensuring that any files used to train synthetic voices are ethically and fairly sourced with consent and knowledge of those they are sourced from.
Pozotron, alongside major platforms such as Voices.com, VO123, Bodalgo, CastVoices, and VOPlanet, has officially joined this pledge, signaling our dedication to ethical industry standards .

The Broader Movement
NAVA launched fAIr Voices to push the industry toward ethical practices amidst rapid AI growth. As the NAVA President Tim Friedlander stated, the movement emphasizes:
- Consent – Actors decide how their voice is used.
- Compensation – Actors get paid for voice licensing and composites.
- Control – Actors determine usage limitations on any created synthetic voice .
NAVA's efforts highlight how community-driven advocacy helped shift major platforms to state voice usage policies and reinforce user protections.
Why Narrators & Producers Should Care
In an age where AI can clone voices with unsettling accuracy and we may feel we have little control, the fAIr Voices Pledge is a proactive way to add an extra layer of protection to your career.
Pozotron doesn’t just sign the pledge; we actively build its protections into how we operate. Here’s what that means for you:
- Your Voice, Your Rules
Consent comes first. Pozotron never uses your audio to train external AI models without your explicit permission—ever.
- Transparent & Trustworthy
Our terms are clear and upfront. You’ll never find hidden clauses or discover your files have been reused without your knowledge.
- Work Without Worry
From script prep to proofing, your voice or manuscript data isn’t being harvested, giving you peace of mind in every upload.
- Privacy and Security Matter
Encryption and secure storage keep your voice files and manuscripts protected at every stage of the process.
The fAIr Voices Pledge isn’t just about protecting your work; it’s about sparking bigger conversations in the industry. When you share it with others, you’re showing that you take voice safety seriously and that Pozotron has your back.
It’s a simple way to make ethics and respect for creative work part of your personal brand.
Practical Tips for Narrators
- Read your contracts carefully. Look for AI usage terms, voice clone clauses, or permission statements. Make sure your consent is explicit and time-limited.
- Ask clients about usage. If an author plans marketing clips, voice analytics, or other derivative uses, clarify whether editing or synthesis is involved and request fair compensation if so.
- Use Pozotron’s transparency. Reference Pozotron’s commitment to transparency when pitching to authors or sharing projects, letting clients know you're working with platforms that prioritize ethical voice use. You can share or reference our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Stay informed through NAVA. NAVA resources, AI rider templates, and contract language are available even to non-members .
Looking Ahead: What’s Next in Voice Rights
NAVA’s pledge is hopefully only the beginning. While the voiceover and entertainment industries continue to advocate for more protections and clearer legislation, the fAIr Voices standards serve as a foundational step. As AI evolves, continued commitment to consent, transparency, and fair compensation will become more important than ever.
Pozotron will continue aligning with these values, ensuring every voice file you upload is treated with respect, integrity, and ethical consideration.
Your Voice is Yours
The fAIr Voices pledge gives you more than just assurances; it gives you agency. By working with a platform that respects consent, control, and compensation, you can confidently use audio tools knowing your rights are honored.
Pozotron proudly stands with NAVA and top industry platforms in committing to these standards. Your voice is yours.
